I have a nice train room, but am in need of more light. I currently have two 2 light 40 watt fluorescent bulbs to light a room 14' X 20'. I have a suspended ceiling and would like to use roughly 30 of these hampton lights. Here is what i would like to do. I will mark each lite location on a 2' x 4' ceiling tile. Then create a hole in the tile at that location. Using a piece of Masonite 1/8 thick and 6" wide i will glue to the back of the ceiling tile to mount the lite to in a recessed method. Using their plug system i could then make each tile holding lights a seperate enity that could be unplugged to remove the tile in question. I would like to add a slide dimmer to control the whole system. How many of these lights could one extension cord handle? I could hardwire the system, however the cord provided is a bit confusing and im not sure i could wire it properly. I use my layout almost every night, so there would be a lot of use. Thanks for the help.
I am not familiar with the Hampton Bay Lights that you are describing. It might be easier to consider a 120-volt system that has mounting bars designed for lay in ceilings. That way you just cut the hole and trim out the lights. The

...A few days ago I bought a Mood Light Panel. I like it very much, especially the different programs. Since the thing is microprocessor controlled, I would like to know if there is any way to make my own program or to color the five tiles individually. I know that I can design my own colors for the whole panel by using the "C1"-switch, but designing my own color changes etc. is not possible. You cannot program more than the remote allows youon the version you purchased. For greater capability we offer the panels in a DMX version which is slightly more expensive and requires a DMX controller and a PC to program with.
...I am trying to light a indoor staircase that spirals slightly. Because of the spiral, there are no flat wall surfaces to mount sconces or typical step lights.
Many customers are very pleased with our 120- VOLT ROPE LIGHTS. Run a pearl white rope down each side of the stairs and use MOUNTING CLIPS or CLEAR MOUNTING TRACK to hold in place. Have your carpenter router in a small channel to accept the rope light strips.
Recently We had invested over 45k in new landscaping and one of the last and final stages was lighting. The company we were dealing with has went out of business. My problem is the light appears to have a short.I first checked the main Transformer everything looked good. Second I check the second connections and this looked ok. I have a PVC pipe under the drive way and when we drive up the light go on and off ? Do you know what the problem might be?
I am assuming from your description that you have a low voltage lighting system. Most likely, you have a 12/2 DIRECT BURIAL CABLE, 10/2 CABLE or UF DIRECT BURIAL CABLE running through the PVC pipe under the driveway. I would start by replacing the section of LOW VOLTAGE WIRE that either has a short or a splice under the driveway. It's ...
My house will be built sometime this month, I ask my builder to install under cabinet lights in the kitchen, of course they will do it for a ridiculous price, I went to home depot and found halogen under cabinet lights for $19.99 ( 3 lights), how hard is it to install or prewire for this, I'm not handy but I'm willing to learn? Thanks
That depends on the type of UNDER CABINET LIGHTS that you are considering. If they are PUCK LIGHTS with a transformer it is fairly basic and the lights come with instructions. If it is a XENON UNDERCABINET LIGHT FIXTURE it will require 120-volt wiring back to a switch. Did your builder provide the wiring?
