...Design is a word of modern world ? Wrong! Design is an experience of culture since humans were able to make a drawing on a stone wall. Picasso invented modern art and design? Wrong again. Have a look yourself.

¡porrrr favorrr!!!)
...Every time i say “i’m back” on my blog, something happens – so, i am not going to say it again, because it’s become a curse I’ve been sick for quite a while, but that’s not so interesting, so i will just get on to the nice things that happened in the last month.
Smashing Magazine textures contest
I participated in Smashing Textures contest – i didn’t win, but i got featured in 2 galleries of the best textures the Smashing crew selected in the end of the contest, and i’m happy about that. Two of my textures got featured in Sand and Earth gallery and in Stone, Walls, Brick gallery. Here are some textures i submitted + the ones i was considering to submit, but since there was a limit of 5 only, i couldn’t include all of them:
Once again i have forsaken my blog for a long time. I was tired, sick, busy, lazy, working and what not, and couldn’t spare some time to write something meaningful or not.
I think i am back now. We’ve almost settled in our house in the usa, though there’s still work to be done. My company, Elune Art, is also renewing our old site, so there’s a lot to be done as well.
Anyway, as i have promised Julian and some other people that i will up put some mp3s of the projects i participate(d) in – finally it’s here. I hope you enjoy the tunes.
Kaiaphas – the ebm/electro/futurepop project, which consists of Zhyin (a.k.a. Lord Kaiaphas) (everything), me (female vocals, sometimes lyrix and some help with everything), and Lienhard (guitar). These tunes are pretty old, since we are in the process of writing our debut album, which will come out pretty soon, and the sound will be better and newer!
May 20 - I'm feeling nervous today. I'm off to photograph Man U tomorrow ahead of their UEFA Champions League Final in Moscow when they're playing Chelsea. I've done all sorts of photography but I'm really shitting myself actually!
Imagine all those egocentric, famous footballers and then just me behind the camera. It's in their training ground tomorrow and it's pretty terrifying. Imagine - I have to try and light it right and everything... I'll show you the shots here if they're any good. I haven't even planned how I'm going to do it yet - but I'll think of something.
May 14 - I know the Cannes Film Festival is coming up but I'm more keen to see the Cans Film Festival. I was there last night - we only heard about it at the last minute because it had all been set up secretly in a disused road under Waterloo Station and revealed to the public at the very last minute, after all the best graffiti artists had prepared their work.
Banksy was there and I'm a big fan of his - but there were also about 30 other different artists there from Brazil, Argentina, Italy and all over the world.
It was proper graffiti - somebody had even brought along a crashed car, or perhaps they crashed it there - but it was incredibly well organised and quite charming.
Everybody was really well-mannered - which isn't I suppose what you'd necessarily expect from a rabble of graffiti artists. It's an art form that comes across as quite aggressive, but this was really a great event - all the security staff were incredibly polite - in fact they had "Polite" written across the back of their jackets instead of "Police". It was really cool, and really well done.

Bit of a nightmare - my ticket for Dior Cruise hasn't arrived at Heavenly Amber, a recording studio in Soho, as it's been closed over the weekend. Naturally I'm convinced that the security guard has given it to his mother. Finally, after a million calls, it's sorted. Go to great diner, Relish, set amongst the now-empty warehouses by the water.
Dior Cruise at Gaustovinos. Quite a different fashion scene from Paris. The crowd dressed 'black tie' and extremely chic - no rock 'n roll here. I'm slightly thrown but manage to hold my own in Dior pink heels and orange dress.
Michael Howells created a faux swimming pool as in Acapulco; the guests sat on elegant white chairs and went mad for John Galliano's collection.
Rushed over to David Zwirner's art gallery in Chelsea for the opening of Neo Rauch's show - an extraordinary artist who is really hot now - then over to the Jazz Standard for Ben Sidran's Talking Jazz.
...While in the queue for my morning coffee at Starbucks, I noticed the word "luxurious" had been added to raisin toast, making it "luxurious fruit bread". While it's delicious lightly buttered, calling white bread and sultanas "luxurious" is a stretch.
The definition of luxurious is highly subjective. For some it is a staffed 50-foot yacht, for others it is a day of paid childcare. Yet when thinking about what makes something truly luxurious, words like rarity, exclusivity, indulgence, and even expensive come to mind.
Despite - or maybe because of - economic uncertainty, the price of gold has sky-rocketed. The demand for fine jewellery, watches and haute couture is rising and seems to fly in the face of economic slowdown.
18-carat gold-dusted fur for Fendi's autumn/winter 2008-9 show and couture handmade seamless lace at Prada's demonstrate that while many are tightening their budgets, statement pieces or prize items are working harder to justify investment.
The most luxurious and exclusive brands appear to be untouched by economic slowdown. Some brands are even upping the ante to make their brands more luxurious. Evidence of this can be found on Bond Street in London, where business in fine jewellery and designer brands is booming.

I am a New Yorker living in London and work at Vogue, but I don't know many real women like Carrie Bradshaw; at least not with her wardrobe and Manhattan apartment on a writer's salary.
Much of the appeal of Sex and the City is the fantasy life of single woman in New York with well connected friends (not to mention the wardrobe and the apartment).
The characters seem real and easy to relate to. They deal with familiar problems with relationships, careers, friendships, and childcare. Yet Carrie & Co are hyper New York stereotypes, the fashionista, lawyer, socialite, and power PR.
With London gearing up for Sex and the City: The Movie, and much excitement about the outfits, the wedding, and the handbags, I can't help think about the real women who made the show such a success: Candace Bushnell (author), Patricia Field (stylist), and Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie).
I met Candace Bushnell while working at Vanity Fair, where she is a contributing writer. She is a slim attractive blond, then in her late Thirties, with an enviable wardrobe and social life. She is the closest thing I know to the real Carrie Bradshaw.
I recently met the show's stylist, Patric...

I have 78 pairs of jeans.
For the record, some are inherited and others I hang on to for nostalgia. The pale coloured denim was a moment in the late Nineties, followed by dark bootcut Earl Jeans, bringing me up to date in a spectrum of washes from skinny low rise to high-waisted flares.
The fact that something so practical, and originally designed as workwear, has come to play such an important or even intimate role in women's lives is remarkable.
Denim is so common now; it's hard to imagine that only a few generations ago it was no go area. And despite the fact that you can find jeans for £200, it is still the great fashion leveller.
Almost everything looks good with them, and almost everyone has a pair. While women wear jeans in different ways, and more or less often, loyalty to their favourite pair is fierce and may be hard for men to understand.
If men had the widely varied body shapes women do, they might understand why finding the perfect pair is like finding a soulmate. A good pair does what a suit can do for a man: enhance the positive.
The relationship between the denim devoted and favourite pair goes way beyond wardrobe basic. A slim friend of mind refuses to weigh herse...

...This is Part 2 of a series of posts exploring the connection between design and life from a Christian perspective. The bold headline references in this post refer to the symbolic journey of Israel described in the Scriptures and summarized in Part 1. Rather than explain each segment of the journey in design, I thought it might be more helpful to hear what a designer would be saying to him or her self depending on where they were in the journey. You can substitute design for your profession. SLAVES IN EGYPTI just don’t know what to do with my life. I’m really a creative, but am stuck in this IT job and am miserable. My latest article entitled The Open Closed Principle is available in the June 2008 edition of MSDN Magazine. I tried to present both the motivation for following the OCP and some design strategies (besides the obvious Plugin example) and related principles to bring your design closer to being "Open for Extension, but Closed for Modification." If you've never heard of the Open/Closed Principle, think of doing an addition to an existing house. What sounds easier, laying all new bricks for an all new room, or changing the layout of existing rooms with a reciprocating saw? An Open/Closed design allows us to extend the system with new code instead of having to potentially screw up existing code that works today. Lastly, if you've read about the OCP before and think the OCP == "Plugin Pattern," go give the article a read, because that's not the entire story. This is the first in a bi-monthly series of articles called Patterns in
